1. Mom Lunch

When it comes to preparing a mom lunch, it can often be the last thing that gets done. We have all had those days where we grab some sad packaged meal, nibble on unappetizing leftovers, or hit up a drive thru because it’s quick and easy.

But, taking the time to prepare your lunch is not only an act of self-care, but can totally change the shape of your day. A nutritious and satisfying lunch can boost your overall mood and it’s a great daily reminder that you MATTER! Whether you’re a SAHM or a working mom, making a lunch that you enjoy can make you feel great.

Here are a few different things I like in my lunch as a working mom. I love having a sectioned bento lunch box and filling it with a variety.

2. Morning Water

Starting out your morning drinking water can seem simple enough, but it is truly one of the hardest habits to stick to. Water plays such a big role in your body, that missing your daily intake can negatively impact your health.

As a mom, I know it may be an after thought, but prioritize drinking water everyday. Oftentimes people can mistake thirst for hunger, then overeat to compensate for being dehydrated. The cycle of being dehydrated and overeating can be hard to break. It can also lead to lower energy and tiredness.

I drink a coffee when I first wake up then a big glass of water. I believe getting the water in is important, not the order in which you drink it. Then I carry this water bottle everywhere I go whether it’s work, errands, or visiting family/ friends. This helps me sip on something constantly throughout the day and hit my water goals way easier.

3. Prioritize Protein

Are you feeling like you are always hungry? That was me before I made the conscious effort to prioritize protein in every meal. I find it keeps me full longer and stabilizes my mood. It also helps cut down on mindless snacking.

Protein Packed Foods:

  • Eggs
  • Greek yogurt
  • Edamame
  • Turkey breast
  • Shrimp
  • Cottage cheese
  • Chickpeas
  • Quinoa
  • Chia seeds
  • Beef jerky

Try to think about what is your protein source in every meal. It doesnโ€™t have to be meat, there are so many different ways to get your protein. One tip I recommend, keep some protein bars in your car! These are my favorite ones.

4. Go to Bed Early to Read

If you are feeling like doomscrolling is the last thing you do before bed and you wake up feeling exhausted, try reading a book. Whether it’s a paperback, kindle, or even an Audible. Reading before bed promotes relaxation and gently unwinds your mind. This can help to end your day on a better note.

Here are my current top book recommendations, if you are looking for something new to read.

5. Do Something Small for Yourself Daily

Something small that contributes to your overall health everyday can change how you feel about yourself. It can be as simple as drinking a warm cup of peppermint tea instead of a coffee. Walking to work instead of driving. Dressing up a little cuter than your normal.

A single small act of taking care of yourself, can set the tone for not only your day, but your life. Donโ€™t let too many days go by where you are unhappy with your lifestyle. You have the power to change it!

6. 10 Minute Reset

Feeling good can start in unexpected places. One place that can get overlooked as Moms, is our home. The environment we set up for ourselves plays a huge role in how we feel about ourselves. A nightly 10 minute reset can set you up for a better tomorrow.

Once the kids are in bed, take 10 minutes to do a few quick things around the house. It can be loading the dishwasher, a quick sweep, putting away some toys, or wiping down some counters. These small actions at night can shift your entire tomorrow. Try it tonight!

7. Fresh Air for a Fresh Mind

One of the biggest ways to feel better is to get some fresh air. It can sometimes feel daunting to go outside if the weather isnโ€™t great. Getting into the mindset of having some fresh air everyday, can completely change your daily vibe. Also, when you get your kids used to being outside (no matter the weather), this can help them to reset.

If you feel off in your day, try getting some fresh air. Whether it is a lunch time walk during work or taking the kids into the yard, having these moments outside can change your outlook on the day.

Golden Reset Rule: if your kids are having an off day, bring a picnic blanket into the yard or park, with a few snacks and toys.

8. Cozy Your Home

When your house feels cozy and inviting, it naturally provides a place to relax. Being in an environment that is cozy and you can relax in, is a mom lifestyle change you must try. You can also dedicate a special spot in your house, just for you.

My cozy corner in my house is a little reading chair. My cupboard next to it is loaded with art supplies and books. I love to get cozy with a cup of tea and read/ make art.

Remember, don’t compare yourself to others online. Your house doesn’t need to be a big influencer million dollar mansion, to be able to make it cozy. Soft lighting, throw blankets, a place to sit, and a warm cup of something is all you need!

One of the greatest things with being a mom is that you are ever evolving. If you are anything like me, constantly learning is how I function and show up for myself. Trying out new hobbies is a great mom lifestyle change I recommend to try!

Hobbies that are simple and easy to manage are what I recommend. One hobby I love as a mom is gardening. You can have the kids outside playing or helping while you tend to the garden. It is very rewarding and easy to get into! Bonus, you can grow your own fruits/vegetables, which is so satisfying.
